Enrich. Empower. Engage.

YMCA-EvaluationGGC spent 2014-2015 measuring its impact on out-of-school time working through a partnership with the YMCA of Greater Louisville. As the largest provider of after school programs in the Commonwealth, the YMCA is using the Global Game Changers curriculum both to fulfill part of their mission regarding social responsibility and to make the time spent with students more intentional and enriching. Again, the report was completed by Dr. Judi Vanderhaar, PhD Evaluation Specialist for the Jefferson County Public School District (Louisville, KY/16th largest urban district in the US).

From the report:
“Overall, this report indicates that the Global Game Changers program has been successful in its core mission: growing compassion and helping students understand and identify ways that they can help others and make a difference. The GGC/YMCA partnership reflected a clear and intentional enhancement of student engagement in content, skills and activities that are aligned with the CEP program values and the JCPS vision of preparing young people to reach their full potential and contribute to society throughout life. Students and staff not only enjoy the program; it also has a positive impact on those who participate.”

GGC’s impact continued into its second year (2013-2014), as seen in this evaluation of the program at Auburndale Elementary, a high poverty school located in Louisville, Kentucky. The report was completed by Dr. Judi Vanderhaar, PhD Evaluation Specialist for the Jefferson County Public School District (Louisville, KY/16th largest urban district in the US).

From the report:
“Qualitative and quantitative data revealed the program had a positive impact on students’ sense of power to help others and their motivation to do so. The program nurtured students’ creativity and ability to connect their unique strengths to contribute to the betterment of others. Various data points indicated a high level of student engagement and enjoyment of GGC lessons and activities, and the programs capacity to develop the key civic dispositions of compassion and promotion of the common good.”

GGC Evaluation Front PageGGC has made an incredible impact in a very short time frame as demonstrated by the overwhelmingly positive pilot program report that we received also from Dr. Judi Vanderhaar, PhD Evaluation Specialist for the Jefferson County Public School District (Louisville, KY/16th largest urban district in the US).

From the report:
“Teachers showed a strong level of enthusiasm for the curriculum and its ability to empower students to give back while teaching them critical academic standards. Their perceived value of the curriculum was high with respect to it impacting students’ motivation to help others, their self-confidence, helping develop an overall positive classroom climate and the fact that it integrated the common core for language arts and NAEYC standards so easily and age-appropriately into their lesson plans.”
